Complete Air Duct Cleaning

HVAC System

Our courteous, insured, professionally trained technicians use the following process:
  • Qwik Care technicians thoroughly pre-inspect your home’s air duct system. You will be informed of the air duct cleaning services needed, and the cost of such service, before any service will be performed.

  • Qwik Care technicians clean all suppy/return registers, plenums, and the entire air duct system using a powerful HEPA filtered vacuum along with specialized tools. For an additional charge, technicians will also thoroughly clean the blower and A/C Coil, (recommended to prevent re-contamination).

  • As needed, areas will be zoned (sealed) off to ensure that the entire system maintains the proper pressure to be cleaned properly.

  • We extract all dirt and debris into our HEPA filtered containment system.

  • Our experienced technicians will put the air duct system back together and clean up any remaining debris in the work area.

  • Qwik Care methodology and materials usage follows the guidelines of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

  • Other related service upgrades are available, such as air filter replacement, system fogging, and clothes dryer vent cleaning.

What Is Air Duct Cleaning?

Air duct cleaning is the term commonly applied to the work performed by professional HVAC cleaning contractors. In order to obtain the most effective results and maintain acceptable indoor air quality, it is commonly recommended that mold/ fungi, dust and other contaminants be cleaned from all portions of the HVAC system. Qwik Care employs the recommended cleaning method, which is source removal. This is the mechanical cleaning of the system components to remove dirt and debris. The source removal method employs a large HEPA-filtered vacuum unit, compressed air, mechanical brushes, and other air powered tools to loosen dirt and debris that is contained upon removal in the vacuum unit for proper disposal. Simply put, we agitate the dust and debris in the HVAC system and extract it into large portable, and/or vacuum mounted trucks.

How Do Air Ducts Get Dirty?

Typically, fresh air drawn in from the outdoors along with the recycled air from the occupied space into an air handling unit where it is conditioned. Before the air enters the unit, it usually passes through a filter designed to protect the system from being contaminated by large particles of dust and debris. Many low-efficiency filters commonly used today will not prevent the smaller particles of dust and debris from entering the air handling and distribution systems. Over time, these deposits may form a sizable accumulation in the air ducts. In the course of normal operation, the humidity level within the HVAC system can vary greatly. High humidity can combine with dust and debris in the system to support the growth of mold and fungi, which may cause adverse reactions among building occupants, or “Sick Building Syndrome” in some cases. Another common method of introducing contaminants in the system is during the construction phase of the home. Construction dust and debris enter the system and is distributed throughout the system upon its first operation. A very common misconception is that HVAC systems are clean in newly-built homes!

How Often Should Air Ducts Be Cleaned?

Frequency of cleaning depends on whether several factors exist, not the least of which is the preference of the home owner. For above reasons, it is usually recommended that the air ducts be cleaned every 1-3 years. Some of the things that may lead a home owner to consider more frequent cleaning include:
• Smokers in the household.
• Pets that shed high amounts of hair and dander.
• Water contamination or damage to the home or HVAC system.
• Residents with allergies or asthma who might benefit from a reduction in the amount of indoor air pollutants in the home’s HVAC system.
• After home renovations or remodeling.
• Prior to occupancy of a new home.

Benefits of Air Duct Cleaning

• Improves the indoor air quality in the building or home.
• Helps to alleviate respiratory health and comfort issues.
• Well maintained systems generally last longer, reducing the need for costly HVAC repairs and early replacements.
• Improves efficiency and energy costs.
• Reduce frequency of cleaning due to decreased dust.
• Saves on floor cleaning and replacement costs. Many homes sport “black borders” around the edges of carpeting. This is due to soil filtration caused by poor filtration and dirty HVAC systems.
