House Cleaning FAQs

"How long can my cleaning take?"

Deep cleanings usually take between 4-6 hours in a smaller home, while in larger homes it can take anywhere from 6-8 hours.

"How many technicians will be performing my cleaning?"

We always send our technicians in teams of two. For larger homes or commercial jobs, there may be up to four technicians.

"Do you bring your own supplies/tools?"

Absolutely. Our products use minimal packaging and are often dispensed in reusable containers. They contain non-toxic ingredients, like baking soda, lemon oil, vinegar, alcohol, water, and oils like thyme oil, which is a natural disinfectant. However if there are certain products you prefer to provide, just inform our phone service representative, or let our technicians know.

"How do you determine rates?"

Our fees are based on the actual time it takes to clean your home in 1/4 hour increments. We have a 2 person, 1.5 hour minimum. The cleaning estimates we provide are based on the square footage, number of beds, and baths.

Our rates, our guarantee and our dedication to you remain the same whether you book us for a one-time cleaning or sign up for weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly service.

House cleaning services have 2 primary ways of charging you, (and paying their employee) for the cleaning; either by the job, or by the hour.

We pay our employees a fair hourly wage from start to finish, and employee wages do not increase if they rush through cleaning your home. Employee raises are based on merit. We reward our employees based on the quality of their work, and the satisfaction of our clients. This ensures that you always recieve a thorough cleaning.

"Do you require contracts?"

Contracts are never required. We're happy to earn your business with every clean, and we've built this company doing just that. However, we do offer 6 month and yearly service contracts at a discount.

"Will you send the same cleaning team each time?"

Yes. Just let us know your preference. If a person is sick or on vacation, you can rest assured you will be informed ahead of scheduled service.

"Do I have to be home when you clean?"

No. We have clients whose lifestyle is to busy to manage access for their cleanings.

In these cases you can provide us a key or access code so we can clean when you are away.

All keys in our possession are given a code designation and are secured when not in use. If you wish to hide a key on your premises, please call the office with the location so we can notify the team prior to arrival.

"Why does a one-time or first time house cleaning take longer than maintenance/routine house cleaning?"

House cleaning is hard work. The first time we come out to clean your home or office, the job is scrubbing intensive as we get all areas cleaned to high cleanliness standards.

Depending on the initial level of grime and clutter, a first-time cleaning can take double times longer than your subsequent cleanings.

"I've never had maid service before; how do I get started?"

Contact us for a free phone estimate and/or schedule an in-home consultation.

Most people select our deep cleaning to start, followed by basic cleaning service at a frequency that suits them.

Some people prefer to start using the compressed routine cleaning time and a priority list. Since it can take quite a bit more time to get the entire home up to that first high level of cleaning perfection, we'll hit your priority areas first, and as we continue to come and clean your home, the little 'extras' that make up a deep cleaning will be rotated in, and eventually we will have your entire home thoroghly cleaned.

Some clients enjoy service on a frequent basis, or have us clean only their high priority, high traffic areas. That's perfectly fine with us. Just let our phone rep know during your scheduling.

The difference between all these options is simply your desires and expectations. We'll start up your service any way you'd like, and we'll maintain your home on a frequency you prefer. We're here to save you time and make your life easier.

"How do I prepare for my first cleaning?"

First, discuss your wants and needs with the office to make sure your home specifics are well documented and clear. Provide us with your pet instructions, keys, alarms or any other specific instructions about your household. If you have any trouble areas, or pet peeves, mention them prior to our visit so we can bring any special cleaning supplies required and be prepared to address these issues on our first visit.

It's fine to leave the cleaners a list, or you can email us at the office on any issue. We are happy to address even very specific items room by room. You can put your list out every time the maids come, especially if your needs or priorities change week to week.

"What days do you work?"

We are available Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm.

"What time will you arrive?"

A dispatching call will be provided 30 minutes or more prior to arrival.

If you have a critical timing issue, please let us know and we will do our best to accomodate.

"Can I leave a note for the team?"

Each one of our clients have different wants, needs, and expectations, so the more communication the better.

Contact the office or the house cleaning team if you would like special attention to an area, if you are pleased with the job, or have other concerns.

We contact all of our clients after their initial cleaning for their feedback.

We also offer an online survey, found by clicking here.

"How do I make my payment?"

  • Payment is due at the time of service.
  • We accept cash, check, Visa, Master card, American Express, and Discover Card.
  • Returned checks are subject to a $40.00 processing fee.
  • If full payment is not received at the time of service, billing clients are assessed an additional $15.00 for processing.
  • Late fees accrue at $25 per month for balances under $250, $55 per month for those above $250

"What if something was missed and I am unhappy with my cleaning?"

Please call us within 24 hours if something was missed or you are not satisfied with your cleaning. Our people are proud of their work and work very hard to provide excellent service. We offfer a guarantee, so we will return to correct the problem at no additional charge.

If something small was missed that you would just like to bring to our attention, please do send us feedback, call, email, or leave a note for the team the next time they come out.

But please do let us know, we would not want to make the same mistake twice. Communication is very important. If we don't hear from you, we will assume everything is well.

We welcome and encourage all feedback that will help us improve our service to you.

"What if something valuable was broken when the maids cleaned my home?"

We treat your home as if it were our own, and of course we carry insurance if there is an unfortunate mishap. If you have any irreplaceable or high value items in your home, please notify our phone reprentative so we do not risk damaging them.

"What if I forget the team is coming to clean my home or office?"

We provide courtesy calls the day before the scheduled cleaning to confirm your cleaning appointment.

If the team is dispatched, drives to your home, and we can't get in to clean, a $45.00 trip fee will be assessed. This is a minimal fee that is in place to cover transportation and employee wage costs.

Please contact us to cancel the cleaning prior to the scheduled day to avoid this charge. We are available for contact by phone, email, and twitter.

"Do you offer gift certificates?"

Yes. Time is our most precious gift. We provide gift certificates here.

  • Carpet Cleaning FAQs

"What carpet cleaning method do you use & how safe is it?"

We offer both the truckmount steam cleaning & bonnet encapulation carpet cleaning methods.

When time is a concern, the bonnet method includes spraying our high quality environmentally safe encapsulation treatments over the carpet ,followed by extraction with a rotary bonnet and grooming. It is a low moisture method that removes soils and dries quickly leaving your carpet fibers soft and plush.

In some cases we may choose to pre-soak the bonnet to further lower the moisture applied when cleaning your carpet. After employing either system , the carpets are then vacuumed to remove any remaining soils or chemicals.

To clean furniture, we offer the "Dry Foam", "Bonnet", and "Steam Cleaning" methods, determined based on the composition or how soiled the item is.

Dry Foam Shampoo Method:  The main benefit of dry foam is that only a small amount of water is used and therefore the drying time is much shorter. Actually, it is about half the time of other methods. The foam is brushed into the fibers of the piece of upholstery until a full coat has been applied. This will bring the dirt to the surface and at the same time, it is dissolving any oil and grease. Once it has dried, it forms small crystals that have trapped the dirt. The last step involves vacuuming the dried crystals off the fabric. Once the job is complete, the piece will look like new!

Bonnet Method:  This also uses a small amount of water and is quick drying as well. A cleaning solution is rubbed deep into the fibers, where it is allowed to saturate the particular piece of furniture. The area is cleaned a short time later using a specially designed pad that helps to absorb the dirt and grease. It does not take long for the fabric to dry.

All of these methods are proven quick and effective, some introducing low moisture contents to prevent damage to your carpets and furniture.

"How long does it take to dry?"
You should expect slight dampness from 2-4 hours.

"Will you move my furniture?"
We will move all easily accessible pieces within reason except for electronics, antiques, and collectibles.

"Do you charge extra for pre-treatments?"

Not at all!

We pride ourselves in making your floors look their absolute best. Our cleanings always include complete spot & stain treatment, at no extra charges!

"How soon can I walk on my floors again?"

With our low moisture methods you can walk on your floors as soon as we're done with the cleaning; of course you may want to limit traffic and outdoor shoes.

With our truck-mount steam cleaning option, allow 24 hours to thoroughly dry.

"How often should you have your carpets cleaned?"

Carpet manufacturers recommend professional cleaning at least three times per year. The build up of soil in your carpet in combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpet's fibers.

The higher the traffic in a given area, the more often the carpet will need cleaning. Professional cleaning does not replace the weekly maintenance that you, the householder has to undertake, but it is essential for the weekly maintenance to remain effective.

"Can you get the pet odor out of my carpet?"

Pet odor is a very common problem that can sometimes be complex. Pet urine can easily soak through the backing of the carpet, into the padding underneath. In more severe cases the urine can penetrate into the sub-floor beneath the padding. This creates a problem that is multi-layered.

The urine also provides for the growth of bacteria. This can contribute to a worsening of the odor problem and can cause permanent color loss of the carpet fiber.

To eliminate this problem, the urine must be removed or neutralized from each of the layers affected. If the contamination is limited to only the face yarn of the carpet then the cleaning itself may effectively remove the odor. In more severe cases a urine neutralizer may be applied.

In the most severe cases, replacement of the carpet padding, treatment of the under-side of the carpet and the sub-floor may be required. Even replacement of the carpet, however, can not guarantee complete removal of the odor.

"I have faded or bleached spots on my rug/ carpet. Can you correct that?"

If there is color loss in the carpet, it may be able to be spot dyed, or we can do a carpet repair for you by replacing that area of carpet with another piece of similar stock.

Qwik Care technicians are quality trained to use industry standard techniques to ensure effective carpet maintenance.
